Kai joined the team as a consultant in August 2020. He brings many years of experience in biochemical and cell biological research, both in scientific operations as well as in science communication. During his Ph.D., Kai focused on mitochondrial proteostasis and investigated the role of specific chaperones and proteases in mitochondrial function and health. Since July 2021, Kai works as Research Analyst for BiotechProfSchleuning. Before, he was working at the Max Planck Institute for Biology of Ageing in Cologne, Germany, where he was responsible for internal and external communication and press releases of scientific publications of the institute. Kai holds a Ph.D. in Genetics and an M.Sc. in Biosciences, both from the University of Cologne.

Since 2017, Kai has been volunteering with Greenpeace Cologne. There he bears co-responsibility for the social media channels and heads the working group for the topic of peace. Kai also works with Greenpeace Cologne’s radio group and conducts interviews on peace and environmental policy topics.

Since 2018, Kai publishes articles on his website, www.kaiblau.de, on the topics of cell biology, genetics and genetic engineering, for which he independently researches, develops concepts, and creates illustrations.
